Artist Statement
My early years were kind of boring until I discovered art. I remember how excited I felt to discover that I could draw things and how much fun it was to be able to create drawings that I liked. I took art all through high school and college always eager to learn more about all the different mediums. Through the years I have studied art at Baton Rouge Fine Arts Academy under Larry Casso and I have studied with watercolorist Carol Creel. I have also taken advantage of many workshops in the different mediums.
I had to take a break from art for a few years to get married, raise a family, and work with my husband in our business. After we retired, my husband said he was going to take an art class and would I like to join him. I was so excited to get back to art after so many years had passed. I am just as excited about art now as when I was just discovering it. I especially like to do watercolors and play with all the different effects and brilliant colors that you can achieve with watercolor. I also enjoy painting in oil and pastel. I never know what is going to inspire me but some of it comes from places that we have traveled flowers and people.
I was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and am a member of LAAG, BRAL and LWS where I have exhibited my paintings in their shows. Some of my paintings have won awards and have been accepted into the National River Road Show in 2013 and 2014. I also have a painting published in the Splash 16 Publication. I have also had paintings exhibited in the local Brush with Burden shows.
I hope to spend many more years improving and enjoying my God given talent and meeting and learning from the many wonderful artists that I have met through the years.
I hope that you enjoy your journey through my art gallery and will come back again.
